FLOODING

FloodingUpdate

Good afternoon Church it is Thursday, May 9.

Many of us have memories of a year and a half ago when hurricane Harvey came through. We had a brief glimpse of that this past Tuesday as we all know when 12-16” of rain fell. We opened our church doors once again as an evacuation site in partnership with Constable, Commissioner and Needville PD departments. The Red Cross has closed us down as of noon today with standby readiness for forecasted 4-8” of new rain this evening-Saturday.

Approximately six of our church family homes have been flooded that we know of. About two or three may need help this coming weekend to clean out the homes. If you are available this Saturday or Sunday (after church) please let me know and I will assign you to a team and to a church family and their house. Troy Middlebrooks is our Team Leader.

I do have one bit of good news: We have been given “first stage“ approval to be an official Red Cross evacuation site. This is a great step in the right direction and one we have been desiring for sometime now. To take the next step we will need to go through a four hour training session.

Two items for you to consider:

1) There will be an information meeting regarding Red Cross training. This information meeting is set for Sunday, June 9 at 1 PM. I suspect this first meeting will only take about 45 minutes to an hour. This is your opportunity to “come and hear” what the four hour training will be all about and see if this is something that will meet your needs and your desire to be a ministry team player

2) The four hour training course has been set for July 21, 1:00-5:00p. We will need for you to register for this training session. Once this training session is complete you will be an official Red Cross volunteer and it will set us up for the second stage approval rating of being an official Red Cross site.

I hope you will prayerfully consider this great opportunity we have to serve our greater community.

If you are able to help this weekend to clean flooded homes please email me greg@creeksidefellowship.org or text me at 832-595-7676

The “annual scholarship barbecue cook off” this weekend has been postponed due to the second round of inclement weather forecasted. As soon as a new date has been set we will notify you.

I hope to see you and worship this evening 7 PM or this Sunday 9:30 or 11 AM. We will continue with part four of the five messages based on the book by Max Lucado, “Anxious for Nothing”.

I Love this church!!
